In the Xequal™ system, each display unit is controlled by an interactive multimedia controller, either built-in or stand-alone. The Xequal™ controller is a compact yet powerful computer system. It is the mind of the Xequal™ system, playing the multimedia content on the display panel, receiving user interaction through the touch screen or key pad, and also interfacing with the central management station for content deployment and management.

The Xequal™ controller can be a stand-alone unit, which attaches to any standard color TFT LCD panels, or can come in the form of a built-in unit inside the enclosure of the display unit.
